2026 March 9th Seminar – Cameron Brinton DNR’s HERU

Registration is closed for this event

Join us at CCA Skidaway's monthly seminar featuring marine biologist, Cameron Brinton on March 9th beginning at 7 PM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. As a dedicated professional with Georgia DNR's Habitat Enhancement and Restoration Unit (HERU), Cameron brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for coastal preservation.

The mission of the HERU is to create essential fish habitat through the creation and restoration of oyster reefs and artificial reefs and in the process increase the opportunities for anglers and divers by using ships and MARTA cars, repurposed concrete discard and oyster shell recycling. Learn about recent work done by HERU, plans for offshore reef projects, establishing new inshore artificial reefs around fishing piers, and the establishment of oyster restoration zones.

image-20260213094307-1.pngCameron is a marine biologist who conserves coastal Georgia’s natural and recreational resources by creating artificial reefs and restoring oyster populations with HERU. He earned a Master of Marine Science from Savannah State University in 2015 and utilizes UAVs, ROVs, and side scan sonar to make informed management decisions. During his career building reefs for the Georgia, Cameron has partnered with many entities to responsibly recycle suitable items into reefs for the benefit of the coastal environment. He is always looking to connect with new people who share this interest.

The CCA’s raffle prize for this month is a $100.00 gift card to Erica Davis Lowcountry located on Victory Drive, Savannah.
