This event promises to be an engaging exploration of the natural wonders that surround our barrier islands.

Heidt is an award winning artist with a Master of Architecture from SCAD at age 20, she completed her architecture internship in Idaho.  A master naturalist in coastal Georgia and a USCG captain she founded Sundial Charters in 1996 - an ecotourism company.  The company is renowned for creating custom adventure experiences that are tailored to the schedules, tides, and weather conditions of the area, armed with the founder’s extensive local knowledge.

Having grown up on Tybee and Little Tybee Islands, she possesses an intimate understanding of the area’s unique ecosystems and cultural history. Her mission is to provide visitors a naturalist perspective of the region.  For 25 years Rene has done wildlife interpretation for tiny groups by boat from all over the world.  Living on the edge of the largest contiguous stretch of salt marsh in the world allows her countless hours to closely study its wildlife through direct observation, photos, sketches and notes.

The seminar is on December 8th at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church from 7-9 PM will be an excellent opportunity for attendees to learn more about the natural beauty and ecological significance of the Tybee Island region. Through Rene Heidt's insights, participants will gain a deeper appreciation for the environment and the importance of preserving these cherished natural spaces.image-20251120093730-2.jpeg
