On Monday, April 14th, Sarah Porter, Chapter Director of Gray’s Reef will be CCA Skidaway’s guest speaker at their monthly seminar. The seminar begins at 7:00 pm at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 3 West Ridge Road.
Gray’s Reef National Marine Sanctuary Foundation serves as the vital link between the public and the stunning underwater world of Gray’s Reef. As a local non-profit partner to NOAA’s Gray’s Reef National Marine Sanctuary, the foundation is the chief advocate for preserving the sanctuary's natural beauty and biodiversity.
The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, through its local chapter, is dedicated to fostering community engagement and connecting people with the wonders of Gray’s Reef. This remote sanctuary is not just a marine habitat; it is a classroom, a laboratory, and a source of endless inspiration for all who visit, whether physically or virtually.
Sarah has over 15 years of experience in development and building partnerships and is dedicated to inspiring support for our marine ecosystems. Most recently she was the director of Innovative Philanthropy at Hope for Haiti, where she not only spearheaded all the northeast fundraising campaigns but also launched the organization’s pioneering Virtual Reality (VR) project, allowing users to virtually explore a school in rural Haiti.
Sarah’ s commitment to service includes over two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Republic of Macedonia, flooded by founding the New York City Peace Corps Association.
A new SCUBA diver and avid kayaker, she also co-produces short documentaries about nature in urban environments, and is passionate about sea creatures.
CCA raffle prize for this month is a $100.00 gift certificate to a local restaurant.
