April 12, 2021 The Landings Lagoons

Skidaway Island CCA meetings have resumed in the first quarter of 2021 in a virtual format. The meetings are being held online via Zoom, and are very similar to our regular meetings, including a monthly raffle for valuable prizes(with a free raffle ticket for all attendees). 

Completing our series of meetings on The Landings Lagoons Monday, April 12, beginning at 4:00 pm via Zoom, will be a presentation by Sean Burgess, The Landings Association Public Works Director.

Sean will talk about and show The Landings’ underground water and lagoon systems and how all of the components tie together to create the great Landings environment.  He will cover the relationship between TLA and the Skidaway CCA and how the entities work together to make the lagoons a great community amenity and will highlight the cooperative efforts of the Lagoon Committee and the Public Works Department in monitoring salinity, seining, electro fishing, stocking, and the underwater structures to enhance the local fishing environment.

Sean joined TLA in 2004.  His long tenure and experience at The Landings led to his promotion from Environmental Manager to Public Works Director in July, 2019.  His primary duties include contract and project management, administration, and the strategic planning of the department to include Environmental, Construction, Building and Grounds, and Fleet.  A 2002 graduate of Lakeland College (Sheboygan, Wisconsin), Sean holds a BA degree in Biology. Before joining the Association, he was a Fishery Technician and then an Aquatic Biologist, both in the state of Wisconsin.  

The raffle will be somewhat unusual, and not just because it's part of an online meeting. As usual, you may purchase raffle tickets as you register, and the proceeds will go to support CCA programs. But in addition to these tickets, Each attendee will receive one free ticket, compliments of CCA as a thank you to all our supporters during this challenging last year. The April raffle will give two attendees the opportunity for an excursion fishing for Red Bull led by Captain Matt Starling.  Winners should note that gratuities are not included, so they are reminded to tip their guide generously at the end of the trip - the two seats are a $375 value.
