Joimage-20230502104241-1.jpeghn ‘Crawfish’ Crawford, a Savannah native, marine science educator and US Coast Guard master captain is our featured host for CCA Skidaway’s seminar on Monday, June 12th starting at 7:00 PM at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at 3 Ridge Road.

He will present a slide show about the physical and biological processes that shape the Georgia coast, what determines coastal habitats and biological communities.  His presentation will guide us through maritime forest and examine the diverse plants and animals in our area and on the large stretches of undeveloped coastline.

John ‘Crawfish’ Crawford grew up in  Savannah.  He attended Armstrong State College and Florida Keys Community College.  He returned to Georgia in the 1970’s continuing his studies on conservation and the environment.  He joined UGA Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant in 1990, spending the next 30 years as a marine educator.  He recently retired from the University of Georgia, but his legacy will continue through an endowed educator position at UGA Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant.

The CCA’s June raffle prize is a 3 hour naturalist excursion with ‘Crawfish’ for 4 people valued at $350.00.
